Bowers: I define my responsibility as helping my clients infuse their own personalities into their homes. Sometimes that means bringing a bit of whimsy into an otherwise serious décor; sometimes that means using color to express a couple’s liveliness. Each client is different and part of the joy is finding out what is going to work for them.
For example, if you just want to give your living room a “botox treatment” instead of a “face lift,” we can create a new look by just rearranging furniture and regrouping pictures. Often, my clients get the greatest pleasure out of just re-painting a foyer or changing the lighting in a room. Pleasing my clients – that gives me great pleasure.
CTGP: You have helped some of our clients make changes in their décor in order to maximize the selling price and minimize the selling time of their homes.
Bowers: Yes, when you decide to put your home on the market, all of a sudden that smashing red dining room and those patterned kitchen walls aren’t attractive to potential buyers – the house looks great, but potential buyers can’t see their furniture in your home. Often there are “tricks of the trade” that can help transform your home into one that is instantly appealing to a buyer.
