Spring brings pastel blooms on dogwoods and other trees, and fall arrives with rich colors in this tranquil community between Pinehurst and Raleigh. Its 315-acre lake invites boating (electric motors), fishing for bass and swimming. Amid forested hills, two 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr. courses challenge golfers and now have new paths for the golf carts. A clubhouse has fine dining and numerous activities. Among 18 neighborhoods are varying styles of homes, a dozen pools and 22 tennis courts. The community has its own fire department and is convenient to both the mountains and seashore of North Carolina.
Gigi and Stuart Stratton (view interview) settled here from Virginia after looking at more than a dozen communities. “This was the best place for us. We like the weather and the people, and the homes are good value for the money,” Gigi says “What sold us was not only the beauty but also the friendliness of the people.”
